The term “Instructional Design” is a confusing label for what we’re trying to do: create student-centered learning experiences. Even if we changed nothing about the practice itself, we should change the name to reflect our focus on the learner. Learning Experience Design, Learning Design, Learning Architecture, and Learning Engineering are all viable, and better, alternatives to Instructional Design. I favor “Learning Experience Design” because it can be applied broadly, and generally requires the least amount of explanation. And “LX” is fun to write and say.  🙂
