The Challenge
The Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA), supporting over 400 Jewish communities, sought to transform its Aging with a History of Trauma report into a comprehensive training program. The goal: equip aging service professionals, volunteers, and family caregivers to apply Person-Centered, Trauma-Informed (PCTI) care to older adults impacted by trauma.
The program needed to meet federal grant requirements, be accessible to a diverse audience, and deliver measurable learning outcomes. Scalability and adaptability were essential, ensuring broad reach while maintaining engagement and effectiveness.
The Process
Jackrabbit LX (JLX) developed a structured roadmap, starting with stakeholder interviews, data synthesis, and learner surveys. We identified an LMS that met JFNA’s security and scalability needs. With the technology selected, our team defined clear learning objectives, course goals, media requirements, and success metrics.
Before full-scale development, we created and tested a prototype module, gathering feedback to refine the content. This iterative approach ensured the program aligned with stakeholder needs before moving to full production.
To make the learning experience interactive and practical, JLX designed real-world case scenarios for hands-on PCTI application. Downloadable handouts supported practitioners in implementing key strategies, and a flexible certification structure catered to diverse learners.
A key component of the program was video interviews with experts who shared firsthand experiences in applying PCTI principles. These videos showcased real-world problem-solving and best practices, helping learners anticipate challenges, think critically, and adapt PCTI concepts to their professional settings. By offering practical guidance and highlighting innovative solutions, the videos enhanced engagement and reinforced JFNA’s commitment to empowering service providers with actionable tools.
The Solution
The result was a scalable online training program that equips professionals, volunteers, and family caregivers with essential PCTI skills. The program directly benefits thousands of service providers across hospitals, senior living communities, long-term care facilities, and community organizations—ultimately improving care for older adults and their families.
Through interactive content, expert insights, and real-world practice, learners gained both a deeper understanding of trauma-informed care and the confidence to apply it daily. The program’s impact extends beyond individual learners, driving systemic change in trauma-sensitive care. Key metrics such as Practitioner Confidence Gains, Course Completion Rates, CEU Attainment, and PCTI Adoption Rates were used to measure its success.
