The Challenge
A longtime client came to us with a familiar problem: their courses were rich in content but too reliant on static, text-heavy formats. Learner feedback consistently flagged engagement issues. Attempts to introduce videos had worked- but they were expensive and hard to scale. On top of that, the client wanted to:
-
- Strengthen their department’s reputation as an innovator in digital learning
- Modernize their visual identity across learning products
- Introduce more interactivity while staying within budget
They needed a scalable, modern solution that would increase engagement, streamline production, and position their team as a leader in next-gen learning.
The Process
To deliver on these goals, we led a four-phase initiative guided by our GPS framework (Guidance, People, Systems):
1️⃣ Strategic Alignment
We kicked things off with two in-depth visioning workshops, using mind mapping and an effort/impact matrix to surface core challenges and opportunities. These conversations revealed a clear mandate: reduce reliance on dense text, and adopt scalable tools that support active learning.
We also explored opportunities to strengthen visual cohesion and branding across courses, laying the groundwork for a more distinctive learning identity.
2️⃣ Learning Model & Standards Update
Next, we revamped the client’s Evidence & Standards (E&S) database, embedding the latest learning science and engagement strategies. We updated their course model to separate:
- Informational content—delivered through AI-generated video, structured text, and visual infographics
- Application content—focused on reflection, critical thinking, and active learning
This shift empowered learners to engage more meaningfully with content—on their terms.
We also introduced AI-generated avatars, providing a faster, more affordable path to professional-quality videos without the need for costly production cycles.
3️⃣ Technology Discovery & Prototyping
We conducted a comprehensive tech audit and identified three tools that would deliver the most value:
- Custom AI Videos: Quick, branded, and scalable
- Blackboard Ultra’s AI Conversation Tool: For simulated dialogue and Socratic questioning
- H5P Interactives: For intuitive course navigation, branching scenarios, and gamified learning
Once selected, we built out high-fidelity prototypes and ran multiple iterations—first internally, then with the client—until every element aligned with their goals.
We closed this phase by standardizing everything—storyboards, templates, and instructional design docs—so the client could apply the new approach at scale.
The Solution
The final product was a modernized learning experience that delivered stronger engagement and real operational gains.
Here’s what success looked like:
✅ 40% boost in video engagement with AI avatars replacing long blocks of text
✅ 60%+ savings on production costs compared to traditional video
✅ Improved learner retention via interactive H5P and application-driven activities
✅ Elevated team reputation as early adopters of AI-enhanced learning
What’s Next
We’re now advising the client on next-phase opportunities, including:
-
- AI-powered assessments
- Adaptive learning pathways for a more personalized learner journey
By combining smart technology with proven learning design, the CADER 3.0 project transformed immediate challenges into long-term strategic wins.

Developing a virtual adaptation of the international non-profit Data to Policy program.
“After being disrupted by COVID, Jackrabbit LX helped us to gather insights from program participants and stakeholders to merge our short-term pivot with our longer term objectives for the program. The solution included the legacy program’s essential components – including mentoring and project-based learning – all of which have received positive feedback from participants.”
